Twenty-Eight Operators Sign Up for Alberta’s Upcoming iGaming Market
In a recent update from Alberta’s gambling regulator, the Alberta Liquor and Gaming Commission (AGCO), 28 online operators have so far registered for gaming licenses ahead of the province’s upcoming commercial market, which is expected to go live July 13.
Of the 28 operators listed, eight are fairly popular across the broader North American-regulated market. Those operators include Bally Bet, BetMGM, BetRivers, Caesars Entertainment, DraftKings, FanDuel, PointsBet Canada, and theScore Bet.
In tandem with the operator list, suppliers like IGT and Light and Wonder have also registered as gaming service providers ahead of the launch.
Compared with Ontario’s regulated market, which launched in April 2022, Alberta already has matched more than half of Ontario’s listed operators, which currently stand at 45, despite Alberta being one-third of Ontario’s size.
The launch of Alberta’s commercial gaming market is also expected to bring in $100 million in annual tax revenue.
